Why are these jerks racing me?

When I was at levels 75-85, I used to wonder why so many people who raced me were around level 100. When I reached the 90s, people were racing me who were 20-30 levels higher. I wondered how they were linking to me and why I was being targeted.

Once I made it to the 100 levels I learned why they were racing me. When you get to the higher levels, the majority of people offered for you to race in the "race rival crew" list are much at much lower levels than you. Right now I am level 123 and usually 70% of the people in my race list are in the 93-108 level range. That is 15-30 levels lower than me. I also note that right now I get raced by people 30-40 levels higher than me. It is simply the way the game works.

It is likely set up that way because the company wants you to buy prestige points. They may be trying to frustrate you into spending money (or, maybe they just want the game to get harder as you progress, which is fine with me). What can you do? Here is some advice:

1.) Do not take it personally. Higher levels will race you and beat you.

2.) Paybacks (PB) use up your money and often have little effect on your target. Still, when someone races you repeatedly, a couple of paybacks sends a better message than a post on the comments page.

3.) Build a strong base. I sold off most of my cars and parts around level 80 except those I needed for the big street races. I kept a few Mini Coopers too so I could win some paybacks. Then, I generated cash and grew my income by buying real estate. I knew I could not beat the higher level racers anyway, so I accepted it and concentrated on building a strong base. When I reached level 100, I had the means to build up a powerful race team.

4.) Turn to your crew for help. Advice from racers like N'Kata Del Gormo helped me get through those tough levels in the 80s and 90s.
